Tashrika Sharma (born in New Delhi, India, 1993; raised in NYC, USA; lives in Vienna, Austria) is an artist who studies mathematics.
Their current work lies in communicating the invisible parts of a math practice vacillating between intuition and rigor. Using drawing, video and text, communication entails either refining an illustration of an abstract concept using iterative design methods or using iterative design methods to experiment with misunderstandings. Misunderstandings arguably enrich an overall understanding of the world an abstract language inhabits.
Audiences and collaborators of these artistic works entail math enthusiasts, students, teachers, researchers, and those who are alienated from the discipline. Due to differing goals of each of the works, these audiences can be disjoint from each other and other times overlap creating conversation between those belonging to seemingly disparate categories.
